Twenty drivers in the state have been found guilty of various traffic infractions by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun State Command.

Under the direction of Her Worship, Chief Magistrate O.T. Odunsaya, the offenders were found guilty during the Phase II of the FRSC Mobile Court, which was held at the Itori unit command.

Odunsi Afolabi, the Corps Public Relations Officer, issued a press release on Friday stating that the offenders were charged and found guilty.

Twenty criminals were arraigned during the proceedings, found guilty, and no releases were noted. There were 40 recorded offenses, 39 of which resulted in various fines, and none of them carried a jail sentence, he claimed.

According to Afolabi, safety infractions such speed limit devices, overloading, seatbelt and driver’s license violations, tires, vehicle licenses, number plate violations, general vehicle maintenance, and associated traffic infractions were the major focus of the enforcement operation.

Corps Commander Akinwunmi Fasakin, the Sector Commander, stressed during the meeting that the exercise is an essential part of the command’s long-term enforcement plan.

According to Fasakin, in order to lower traffic accidents along the state’s operational corridors, the mobile courts improve operational visibility and guarantee strict adherence to traffic laws.

However, he noted that the drill was backed by sufficient security from armed forces and praised the peaceful and orderly conduct of the activities.

The commander emphasized that the measure serves as a deterrent to reckless driving and emphasizes its commitment to prosecuting those who endanger lives on Nigerian roads. He urged drivers to prioritize safe driving practices and ensure proper vehicle documentation in order to prevent avoidable injuries and fatalities.
