The All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Osun State has criticized the ruling Accord and Governor Ademola Adeleke for allegedly politicizing security issues in the state.

The Osun APC Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, signed a press release on Thursday in which the party stated that all levels of government should continue to prioritize protecting people and property.

The Accord’s recent comments criticizing local governments’ attempts to assist security forces were criticized in the statement.

The local council chairmen’s donation of operable vehicles to the police was condemned by the APC as “uncalled for, frivolous, and ill-motivated.”

The party said that the council executives, whom it described as having been lawfully reinstated, fulfilled their obligations by helping security services fight crime.

Olabisi remarked, “It is surprising that a ruling party would condemn efforts aimed at strengthening security operations in the state.”

The APC contended that the council chairmen’s move was meant to improve policing capabilities and provide greater safety for Osun State’s citizens.

The statement also implied that the Accord Party’s criticism was motivated by what it described as unease over the revelation of purported governance flaws.

The statement stated, “We observe that the Accord Party’s concern is not about the policy itself, but rather that it highlights gaps in the current administration’s priorities.”

The APC emphasized that cooperative efforts were required to effectively combat crime and underlined that security should not be subject to political disputes.

It further said that until all legal procedures pertaining to their term were completed, the reinstated council officials were still legally recognized.

According to Olabisi, “the council executives remain the duly elected representatives until all judicial processes, including those at the Supreme Court, are concluded.”

The party asked political players and the state administration to concentrate on bolstering security instead of arguing over programs meant to assist law enforcement.

In a statement released on Sunday, the chairman of the Accord, Pastor Victor Akande, warned the Osun State Police Command not to accept car contributions from the All Progressives Congress (APC) council chairmen who were fired by the court.

Additionally, Pastor Akande cautioned that these donations could implicate the police because they were the proceeds of illegal activity.

The party also informed the public that the illegal APC chairmen had once more embezzled money from the Osun local government to buy cars that would be donated to the police force.

The Inspector-General of Police was urged by the party to halt what it called a blatant attempt to further undermine the police force by using illicit donations obtained from criminal activity.

Additionally, it instructed the IGP to instruct the Osun Police Command not to accept such offers, pointing out that the matter is currently pending in multiple courts and that some UBA high officials are on trial for allegedly embezzling money from the Osun local government.
