Ahmad Gumi, a controversial Islamic preacher, has maintained that the only practical way to address Nigeria’s insecurity issue is to negotiate with terrorists and robbers.
According to reports, Gumi bemoaned in a Facebook post on Thursday that the nation has ignored underprivileged groups for decades, resulting in severe socioeconomic disparities and leaving many young people open to manipulation by outside forces looking to destabilize the nation.
He claims that many young people are now ready-made foot soldiers in violent cycles that allow Nigeria’s riches to be exploited due to the growing wealth disparity.
Gumi bemoaned the fact that the intellectual class is being held captive in the fight for survival while the political class is mainly indifferent to the circumstances.
The Islamic scholar insisted that the only way out of the insecurity dilemma is to adopt his 2021 strategy of “taking the bull by the horns” and try to reintegrate violent individuals into society.
“Nigeria has disregarded the poor segment of its society for decades,” he said. The society is stratified and there is a large socioeconomic disparity. This turns our young people into ready-made foot soldiers for any foreign entity attempting to subjugate and divide us. to steal our resources while engaging in a violent cycle of violence.Sadly, the intelligentsia is held captive in the struggle for survival while the political elite pays little attention.
“I took the bull by the horns in 2021 in an effort to reintegrate some of these impolite aspects into our fold instead of allowing the devil to take use of them.
“I continue to think that this is the only way out of our situation.” To succeed, though, political will and tenacity are required.
