The scheduled national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction supported by Nyesom Wike has been rejected by Sule Lamido, a former governor of Jigawa State.
He claimed in an interview with Daily Trust that Wike and Taminu Turaki had no understanding how the PDP was created and that their contributions to the party’s expansion were insignificant.
Remember that Lamido had already asked interested parties to put down their weapons and support Wike’s caretaker structure.
But Lamido made it clear in the interview that he doesn’t back Wike and that his only goal is to bring about harmony within PDP.
He stated, “I want to be clear.” What is the other group when you claim that this is the Wike faction? You’re referring to my party, the PDP. Wike and Turaki have no idea how the party came to be. A faction headed by A or B, therefore, is unaware of the PDP’s founding.
This is a critical issue. The ownership of PDP is Nigerian. Political figures and intellectuals launched the PDP in 1998. leaders who were familiar with Nigeria’s independence. Adamu Chiroma, Alex Ekwueme, Solomon Lar, Bola Ige, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, Abubakar Rimi, and Professor Jerry Gana are among those who are familiar with Nigeria as a nation. The youngest of them is me.
“During Abacha, these individuals battled for democracy.” Everyone else, including NADECO, arrived later. If you choose people like Solomon Lar and others, they have no effect or consequence. NADECO arrived after June 12.
“I want you to understand exactly what we are discussing: Nigeria and Nigerian interests, not the interests of individuals.
Therefore, please make an effort to distance Nigeria from these little names; it is crucial. Thus, the PDP was established by these individuals who took some time to think things through and came up with a powerful party that represented a sort of consensus of all the beliefs or ideologies. NPN elements and UPN elements. Actually, every independent Nigerian political activist you know joined the PDP in 1998. Thus, it is not radicalism, socialism, capitalism, or liberalism. It is obviously about Nigeria, a nation that has been meant to have a part in the world.
“We can only fulfill this role if we unite as a nation that is richly endowed by God with a robust culture, history, and traditions, as well as people who are extremely hardworking and capable of improving the world if we so choose.”
“You are not treating us fairly since all of these people are PDP beneficiaries. I am therefore more concerned about PDP if people are going to places where there may be interest.
“I am a PDP supporter, not Wike. However, as a result of our activities, we have unintentionally created an environment in which the APC is profiting off the animosity, rage, insults, etc. APC with Tinubu.
“I have no trouble winning the election; that’s the main issue. However, we get weaker the more we battle.
