Phase One of the Continuous Voter Registration, or CVR, exercise has begun, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun State.

INEC added that the action came after the Commission’s National Headquarters issued a circular on Friday.

The development was in keeping with the agreed national timeframe for the ongoing CVR, according to a statement released on Saturday by Public Affairs Officer Musa Olurode on behalf of Dr. Mutiu Agboke, the Osun Resident Electoral Commissioner.

It further stated that in advance of upcoming elections, the program would guarantee that all eligible citizens had the chance to register, update their information, or confirm their records.

“The Commission is still dedicated to making sure that every eligible voter has the chance to register. According to the release, “Phase One of the exercise would continue until December 10, 2025, after which other key activities would follow.”

According to INEC, the Preliminary Register of Voters will be printed between December 13 and 14, 2025.

The statement claims that the printing was done to make it easier to be ready for the register’s required display.

The Commission further clarified that the claims and objections presentation would take place between December 16 and December 21, 2025.

It said, “The public and registered voters are encouraged to visit the Commission’s thirty local government offices to verify their details.”

It stated that public scrutiny remained a crucial component of ensuring the accuracy of the voters’ register and that members of the public were free to voice any allegations or complaints throughout the seven-day period.

“On December 21, 2025, the Commission would address complaints resulting from the exhibition exercise. The deadline for receiving, recording, and processing all submissions pertaining to the objections and claims has been set.

On December 22, 2025, the necessary modifications to the registry would be completed. The modifications were made to guarantee the voter database’s correctness and integrity.

On January 5, 2026, the CVR exercise would resume for Phase Two. Every eligible person should take advantage of the chance if they haven’t registered or need to update their information.

The statement stated, “The Commission urges all eligible citizens to take advantage of this window.”

The Commission reiterated its commitment to streamlining Nigeria’s electoral process while advising the public to stay away from false information and to rely on official channels for factual information.
