Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president of Nigeria, stated on Friday that Nigerians are free to go for assistance elsewhere if they believe their country is failing to protect them.

“You can take them out,” he added, adding that no one should commit a crime and evade prosecution in these day of technology.

Speaking during the Plateau Unity Christmas and Praise Festival, which is being held at the Ten Commandments Prayer Altar in Dwei-Du, Jos South LGA, Plateau State, Obasanjo made this statement.

“I think that is nonsensical,” he declared. We are being murdered. No matter what religion you practice, where you are from, or what you do for a living, Nigerians are being slain, and our government doesn’t seem to be able to stop it.

We belong to the global community. We have the right to request assistance from the international community if our government is unable to provide it. The government is responsible for taking action if we are being killed.

“We should demand that the government fulfill its obligations at all levels. At all levels and in all spheres of life, we ought to demand that our leaders fulfill their obligations,” he insisted.

“There shouldn’t be anyone hiding anywhere in these days of technology after he has committed a crime that cannot be seen with the current satellite,” he said.

Obasanjo recalled his tenure as president, saying, “I knew we had the capacity to pick up anybody in Nigeria before I left government.” At the time, we lacked the ability to pick up such a criminal without having to go by air or land after we had located and recognized him. With drones, we now have capacity. They are yours to remove. How come we don’t do that?

Why do we have to negotiate? And the government denies that it paid these crooks!

“We should urge our government to take the necessary steps to prevent the murder of Nigerians.

“We want to kill Nigerians because we are sick of being killed, regardless of whether they are Christians, Muslims, or pagans. Every Nigerian’s life counts. It ought to end,” he emphasized.
