Only nine completed results from the Anambra governorship poll’s 21 local government districts have been released by the Independent National Electoral Commission to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
The LGAs include Idemili North LGA (467 polling places), Ihiala LGA (323 polling places), Orumba South LGA (208 polling places), Akwa South LGA (390 polling places), and Onitsha North LGA (313). In addition, there are 207 polling places in Oyi LGA, 241 in Anambra East LGA, 165 in Dunukofia LGA, and 191 in Ayemelum LGA.
The electoral body has not offered an explanation for this.
Governor Charles Soludo was proclaimed the election winner by INEC early on Sunday morning.
Mr. Soludo received 422,664 votes, according to INEC, to defeat the other 15 contenders for governor.
Vote-buying was a defining feature of the gubernatorial poll, according to both candidates and observers.
