Prominent Islamic scholars have noted that the nation’s aviation industry will only maintain its safety status if employees and those tasked with crucial duties demonstrate discipline, follow laws and regulations, and instill a fear of God in their day-to-day operations.

As part of events to commemorate the holy month of Ramadan, Skyway Aviation Handling Company PLC (SAHCO) hosted an Iftar dinner and Ramadan lecture for its partners, clients, and stakeholders.

According to the ground handling company, the occasion provided a chance to contemplate on the principles of faith, discipline, moral behavior, and solidarity while fortifying ties within the aviation sector.

Professor Tajudeen Olalekan Yusuf, an Islamic scholar who spoke on the topic of “Ramadan: The School of Spiritual Discipline, Economic Justice, and Ethical Business Transformation,” urged employees to maintain discipline and a fear of God while performing their duties, affirming that these are the values necessary for the security and honor of a crucial industry like aviation.

He pointed out that “Ramadan is not merely a religious season” but also a training ground created by Allah to improve human nature.

This is where Ramadan becomes applicable to the workplace, he continued.

Speaking on the subject of “From Ramadan to the Workplace: The Role of Taqwa in Ensuring Ethical Practices in Aviation industry Airport Operations and Cargo Businesses,” Imam Ibrahim Tirmidhee pointed out that fasting is meant to foster Taqwa, or awareness of God, which aids people in developing self-control and moral behavior in their day-to-day lives.

He stated that activities in the aviation sector necessitate rigorous adherence to safety protocols, accuracy, and accountability and cautioned that carelessness and compromise in professional responsibilities might put lives in danger and interfere with operations.

The Managing Director and CEO of SAHCO, Mrs. Adenike Aboderin, stressed the company’s strong commitment in faith, inclusivity, and respect for people of all religious origins in her introductory remarks.

She emphasized that SAHCO is still dedicated to creating a setting that values and celebrates diversity.

She claims that Ramadan encourages introspection, selflessness, empathy, and self-control—values that are equally significant in the business sector.
