Jake Epelle, the founder of TAF Africa, has urged Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to concentrate on his official responsibilities and spare the people of Rivers State.

The call was made by Epelle on Tuesday during an interview on Channels Television’s show, The Morning Brief.

He emphasized that Wike is not the state’s political godfather in response to the present political unrest in Rivers.

Godfatherism does not exist in democracies. Godfatherism is an introduction to African political theory and Nigerian culture. For the love of God, it won’t work. Wike is not the political godfather of Rivers State. Rivers State and its citizens should be left alone while he concentrates on his ministerial role.

“You can’t hold the Rivers people by the jugular and assume that what you say has to happen and what you didn’t say can’t.” It will not occur.

“People that are peaceful, resilient, and determined will rise up and continue to speak truth to power.

“Leave Rivers State and its people alone and let him continue to serve as the minister of the Federal Capital Territory.”
