Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, has explained why he chose the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The governor reportedly declared earlier in the week that he was leaving the main opposition party to join the APC.
Speaking in the Port Harcourt government house on Friday, the governor stated that he chose to support President Bola Tinubu’s reelection campaign while accepting the APC membership card from the party’s chairman, Chief Tony Okocha.
The governor emphasized that joining the APC gives the state the chance to have a positive working relationship with the president and referred to the decision as a “spiritual assignment.”
As you have stated, this is a spiritual task since it pertains to Rivers State’s development, safety, and progress.
When the President is going in a different route, we are unable to follow suit.
“We’re committed to ensuring a smooth working relationship and making a significant contribution to his reelection efforts in Rivers State, which includes joining the APC,” he stated.
In addition to thanking the party leadership for the kind welcome, Governor Fubara stated that he chose to support the APC for the stability and advancement of the state.
In addition, he promised to support the party’s executives, members, and structure in order to fortify the APC in the state.
“Mr. Chairman, this is now your home.” Here, you are welcome at any time. Governor Fubara declared, “We will keep the APC active and fully operational in Rivers State, and every need of the party will be taken care of.”
