Malam Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna state, submitted a bail plea, and a Federal High Court in that state has scheduled a ruling for April 14.
Shortly after the court sessions, Mr. Oluwole Iyamu (SAN), who headed the defense team, revealed this to reporters.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reporters were prohibited from covering the day’s activities in the courtroom.
Iyamu stated that after both sides contested the bail request, the court postponed making a decision.
“The bail application was contested and answered, and the decision regarding that bail has been scheduled for April 14th,” he stated.
The senior attorney was hopeful that the court would render a just verdict.
Any attorney will have optimism. We have optimism. This is a court of justice, and we have presented our arguments. We anticipate the court’s ruling,” he continued.
Iyamu said the defense team is ready for a different case that is set for April 10 at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
“That is a different one. As attorneys, we are prepared. He stated that the Department of State Services (DSS) was interested in the matter. “We have filed the necessary papers and we will be there.”
According to NAN, the court postponed hearing El-Rufai’s bail plea until Wednesday on Tuesday.
The public’s increased interest in the high-profile corruption trial was reflected in the adjournment that followed the tightly guarded hearings.
El-Rufai is on trial before Judge Rilwan M. Aikawa on a 10-count accusation that includes allegations of money laundering, conversion, and possession of public property.
