Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, expressed concern about Viktor Gyokeres’ muscular issue after the Swedish striker was substituted during the team’s 2-0 victory over Burnley on Saturday.
Before being replaced before the half, Viktor Gyokeres, a £64 million summer acquisition, had given Arsenal the lead. The 27-year-old will miss Tuesday night’s Champions League match against Slavia Prague since he hasn’t resumed training.
Arteta stated that the forward won’t play in the midweek match in an interview with BBC Sport.
He said, “No, he’s definitely not available.” He didn’t practice today. To determine the severity of the injuries, we will need to do additional tests and scans in the coming days. He’s not available, though.
When questioned further about whether it would be a slight setback, Arteta acknowledged that he was concerned the problem might be more serious than first believed.
He answered, “No, I am worried because he hasn’t had many muscular problems and he had to leave the field because he was feeling something.” “Obviously, that’s never a good omen, especially for a highly explosive athlete. We will make an announcement as soon as we have more information about the injury, so we are delving a little more to find out where we stand.
This season, Gyokeres has been one of Arsenal’s bright spots, scoring four goals in the Premier League and adjusting to life in north London with ease. However, his absence adds to the Gunners’ already concerning list of injuries.
Seven players, including forwards Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli, Noni Madueke, and Gabriel Jesus, are presently out, according to Arteta.
