Bilyaminu Moriki, the speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, and twelve other members have joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Following the presentation of resignation letters on behalf of the lawmakers, Moriki declared the defection during Monday’s Gusau plenary.

Governor Dauda Lawal recently defected from the PDP to the APC, which prompted this occurrence.

Tuesday, March 24, has been set aside by the APC to formally welcome the governor and the MPs who have defected.

Adamu Aliyu, the deputy speaker from Gummi II Constituency, Bello Mazawaje, the majority leader from Tsafe East Constituency, and Rilwanu Nagambo, the chief whip from Anka Constituency, are among those who deserted.

According to Moriki, the choice was made to support state growth and be in line with the governor.

He stated, “Our decision is intended to encourage smooth collaboration between the state and the federal governments.”

The Zamfara State House of Assembly is now completely under APC control as a result of the defection.
