Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the most recent governor of Kano State, has rejected the Kano State government’s request for his arrest.
He said the call was careless and without merit.
Ganduje made this revelation in a statement released by Edwin Olofu, his chief press secretary.
The statement claimed that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration’s action demonstrated a lack of attention to the state’s actual security concerns.
“It is extremely regrettable that Governor Yusuf has opted to chase shadows while looking for scapegoats to conceal his glaring failures, instead of addressing the escalating insecurity ravaging the state,” he stated.
Ganduje claims that despite frequent attacks on villages in Bagwai, Shanono, Tsanyawa, and other places, the governor has not visited nor expressed sympathy for the victims.
The statement went on, “His persistent absence during times that call for leadership speaks volumes of his disconnection from the people he claims to serve.”
Ganduje emphasized that he has never been connected to violence or other actions that jeopardize Kano State’s peace and stability.
He emphasized that the accusation was just intended to divert attention.
Instead of participating in political theater and making baseless accusations, he encouraged Governor Yusuf to concentrate on his constitutional obligation to safeguard Kano residents.
Recall that Abdullahi Umar Ganduje was ordered to be arrested immediately by the Kano State Government on Friday due to his inciting remarks and attempts to form an illegal military group within the state.
