Former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun said that “powerful enemies” were to blame for her resignation from former President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet.

She claims that these influential adversaries used the dispute surrounding her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate as an opportunity to remove her from office.

According to reports, Adeosun revealed the information in an interview that will run on Channels Television on Friday. On Thursday, the station’s news bulletin featured a clip from the Inside Sources show.

Recall that Adeosun resigned in 2018 due to accusations that her credentials included a falsified NYSC certificate.

The former finance minister claimed in the interview that the scandal was exploited by internal opposition inside the Buhari-led government to compel her resignation.

“The fact that I had strong adversaries who I thought saw a chance doesn’t bother me. “Let’s eliminate her,” she murmured.

Adeosun clarified that she directly told President Buhari about the situation and her plan to file a lawsuit, emphasizing that she couldn’t stay in office while challenging the government.

“I resigned, but no one else did in finance. I resigned; why? I went to visit the president the day I quit. “Mr. President, I must leave, but I will appear in court to clear my name,” she added.

She claims that Buhari backed her choice and cautioned against jeopardizing one’s image in order to run for political office.

“I fully support you,” he declared. Since our children and grandkids are leasing these names, isn’t that correct? Adeosun declared, “They will inherit them.”

Then, in an attempt to continue serving as a pastor, you ruin your reputation. What for?

Adeosun claimed that after resigning, she sued the federal government, claiming that it was the only morally right thing to do.

“I filed a federal lawsuit. You cannot continue working for the government while suing it. Not at all. You have to leave. She continued, “I believe it is the right thing to do.”

A Federal High Court in Abuja decided in July 2021 that Adeosun could not be penalized or have her job forfeited because of the NYSC credential issue.

Adeosun was not required to show a NYSC certificate in order to hold public office in Nigeria, according to Justice Taiwo Taiwo. The claim that the certificate in question was forged was not addressed by the court, nevertheless.
