Oluwakemisola Apesin, better known by her stage name Kemity, is a Nollywood actress who has responded to reports that she used sexual favors to progress in the business.
In a post on her Instagram profile, she reportedly emphasized that hard effort is the reason behind her success.
Kemity shared old images and reminisced about her early career as she reflected on her path in Nollywood.
She said she has always made her own way and has never traded her body for opportunities or movie parts.
Prior to going into the movie business, she supported herself while pursuing her love of acting by working as a receptionist at the Masters Hotel in Ayobo and owning two wine shops.
According to Kemity, her career path entailed studying a variety of skills, such as makeup artistry and acting, which she utilized to finance productions and maintain her financial stability.
She emphasized that her work and dedication, driven by her upbringing and strong family values, have been the reason behind her professional accomplishment.
The actress—who also has two daughters—advised aspiring actors to avoid being duped by industry short cuts or empty promises.
She underlined that success can be attained with skill, hard effort, discipline, and consistency.
She wrote: “Return on Thursday.” Respectfully, I must clarify something. Social media noise should not be used as an excuse for anyone to deceive them. Never once have I collected a movie role with my body. I have never had sex with someone in order to be in a movie.
“I’ve never traded sex for a chance. I was selling wine in two different stores before I even met my employer.
“I’ve always earned my money by working for it. I am a mom. With dignity and high morals, I am training and parenting my two girls. Their future cannot be based on something shady. My sweat has made me who I am today. I owe whatever I have to God’s grace and hard work.
