The results of the recent by-elections in Rivers, Kano, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been characterized by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State as a referendum on Bola Tinubu’s government.

Mogaji Seye Oladejo, the spokesman for the Lagos APC, said in a statement titled “The results of the by-elections as a referendum on Tinubu Presidency” released on Sunday that the party’s policy orientation and the president’s leadership are becoming increasingly trusted.

As per the party, the outcomes confirm backing for the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and continuous federal and state reforms.

According to Oladejo, the electorate’s choice shows that it supports what it called audacious institutional strengthening, infrastructure development, and economic changes.

The statement said: “The All Progressives Congress, or APC, Lagos State Chapter would like to sincerely thank the good citizens of Rivers and Kano States, the Federal Capital Territory, or FCT, and all Nigerians for their tremendous support of our great Party in the recently held by-elections.

“The results of the by-elections in all of the impacted constituencies represent an unmistakable and unambiguous referendum on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership and the progressive principles that continue to direct our country’s governance.”

“Our candidates’ overwhelming wins serve as further evidence of the electorate’s faith in the Renewed Hope Agenda and the revolutionary laws being enacted at the federal and state levels.

“The people have made their voices heard through the ballot at a time when critics and opposition elements have attempted to distort the country’s course. These findings show that when Nigerians witness strong institutional development, economic reforms, infrastructure growth, and fearless leadership, they take notice. They also demonstrate an awareness that nation-building calls for perseverance, bravery, and persistence.

The outcomes of these elections are, in fact, the last straw for an opposition that has mostly remained uninspired and undeserving of serious consideration by knowledgeable and astute voters.

The opposition has turned to bluster, sensationalism, and obstruction instead of providing viable solutions. The public has now rendered a resounding and democratic decision.

Additionally, the circumstances surrounding these elections have once again demonstrated that social media’s dominance as a platform for political activism may not be as great as it seems. When it mattered most, at the voting booth, the opposition’s magnified voice on digital platforms did not result in actual electoral penetration or public acceptability. Voters, not online trends, ultimately decide democracy. A well-founded and performance-driven ruling party cannot be overthrown by daydreaming, internet theatrics, or manufactured anger.

Given the quality of its performance and the implicit trust that the Nigerian people have in it, the next 2027 national elections could be a breeze for the ruling APC.

The momentum seen in these by-elections is not a coincidence; rather, it is a testament to the confidence gained via fearless changes and resolute leadership.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deserves praise for the work it put into holding the elections. We also give special recognition to the security services for their professionalism, alertness, and dedication to preserving order and calm during the election process. Their actions made sure that people could fulfill their civic duties in a secure setting.

“We applaud our party loyalists, campaign teams, and volunteers whose commitment, self-control, and grassroots involvement made this outstanding result possible.

As a Party, we are still dedicated to advancing democracy, fostering internal unity, and providing all citizens with the benefits of democracy. The results of the by-elections are more than just political triumphs; they represent a reinvigorated commitment to work harder for the benefit of the public.
