ADC has named Mr. Donald Duke, a former governor of Cross River State and former Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, as the chairman of its newly established Leadership Forum.
At a meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) executive committee and expanded stakeholders, Duke—who had left the party—was appointed to the role.
Following the meeting, a statement signed by Dr. John Ogar, the state chairman, characterized the Leadership Forum as the party’s top non-elective advisory body.
The forum was deemed necessary, according to the communiqué, and would be made up of esteemed people with integrity and demonstrated leadership experience.
According to the party, the organization’s purpose is to supervise and offer strategic direction to the ADC leadership throughout the state.
Duke was overwhelmingly supported by the meeting’s stakeholders as the forum’s chairman, carrying out supervisory duties throughout the three senatorial districts.
Dr. Effiong Nyong, a former ADC governorship candidate, was chosen to lead the Southern District; Chief Ray Ugba Morphy, a former chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority, was chosen to lead the Central District; and Chief Akin Ricketts, a former ADC chairman, was chosen to lead the Northern Senatorial District.
In order to reach its goal of registering at least one million voters before the next general elections, the party decided to step up its election campaign.
In addition, it pledged to uphold internal discipline and warned that any member, regardless of status, found to be involved in actions that hinder the party’s development will be subject to the party constitution.
