The Ndiolumbe autonomous community in Abia State’s Isiala Ngwa South LGA is in sorrow after Mr. Ukaegbu Ogii, an indigenous man, was killed by his kinsman, Okwudili Mbama.

The defendant, Okwudili Mbama, also known as Nkume, stabbed the late Ukaegbu Ogii in the neck after accusing him of having extramarital encounters with Mercy Mbama, his wife.

According to a local source, the suspect, who was from Umuota village in Ndiolumbe, escaped right away to an unidentified location in order to avoid being apprehended.

The community source also stated that despite community assistance, the suspect had caused the late Ukaegbu Ogii’s head injury a few weeks prior due to the same problem.

Tension arose in the community upon hearing of Ukaegbu Ogii’s passing.

The suspect’s wife, Mrs. Okwudili Mbama, reported the event to the Omoba Police Divisional headquarters on April 5th, according to the Abia State Police Command, which confirmed the incidence.

According to DSP Maureen Chinaka, the Abia State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, detectives from the Command visited the scene of the event and transported the victim to the hospital, where a medical professional verified his death.

“His body has been placed in the mortuary for autopsy and preservation, and the suspect, who is still at large, is being sought after.

“The investigation is still ongoing,” stated DSP Chinaka.
