Days after terrorists kidnapped 26 schoolgirls from the Government Girls’ Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Maga, troops who were formerly stationed there are currently being questioned at the Defence Headquarters.

Punch was informed by a top government source who was aware of the investigation that the military command had started looking into why soldiers had abruptly left the school just before the attack.

It is known that on November 17, terrorists broke into the school and killed Malam Hassan Makuku, the vice principal, before taking 26 kids with them.

After two of the kidnapped females managed to get away from their kidnappers, there were just 24 girls remaining in the jungles.

In response to the kidnapping, Nasir Idris, the governor of Kebbi State, demanded an investigation of the military personnel’s abrupt removal from the school.

Following a private meeting in Jos with Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defense, the governor stated that Kebbi had previously provided the military authorities with reliable security warnings, including signals predicting the possibility of an attack on the school.

He questioned why security personnel were removed just before the incident, claiming that they were sent out in reaction to the intelligence.

According to the senior government source who talked with Punch, Kebbi is awaiting the results of the military inquiry into the identity of the individual who gave the order for the staff to leave the school grounds prior to the attack.

“The military personnel stationed at the school have been summoned to Abuja for interrogation,” he stated. On Monday, they received a call from Defense Headquarters. We are investigating the matter.

The soldiers, according to the authority, were from the Army Barracks in Zuru.

Additionally, a reliable security source attested to the fact that the staff had been called to Defense Headquarters.

“Colleagues in the army told me on Monday that the soldiers had reported to headquarters, but I don’t have all the specifics. The events in Kebbi and Niger have pleased all security chiefs. The cops and the army were not very successful. However, the investigation is still underway,” he stated.

The investigation is ongoing, according to a senior military officer who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss.

“Everyone connected to the school will be questioned in order to ascertain what went wrong as the military hierarchy looks into the situation. He declared, “Anyone found guilty will undoubtedly be brought to justice.”

“It’s not unlikely that the troops have been summoned in connection with the incident, but the matter is still under probe,” a second military source continued.
