On Saturday, suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked a peaceful farming settlement in the Barki Abdullahi (BAD) village in Lafia Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, severing a woman’s hand, causing panic.

The attackers, who have not yet been recognized, are said to have ambushed farmers as they were working on their fields, seriously injuring a number of locals.

Among those sent to a local clinic for emergency care was the woman, whose hand had been severed with a machete.

The incident was corroborated by a local resident named Esla, who called it “heartbreaking and unprovoked.”

He urged security services to move quickly and make sure the assailants are taken into custody before things get out of hand.

Fear has now spread throughout the entire neighborhood, according to Esla, and people are concerned about more attacks.

He urged the government to send out security guards immediately in order to save lives and property and make the neighborhood feel safer.

Authorities have not yet commented on the matter as of the time of this article.
