Concerns regarding former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello running for the Kogi Central Senatorial seat in 2027 have been downplayed by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
She reportedly stated that she is open to running again if he enters the race and that the move does not concern her.
“We don’t see it as a threat,” she stated through her Special Advisor on Media, Mike Idoko. We are actually pleased that he wishes to compete. We’re holding out for them.
After a protracted legal battle, Akpoti-Uduaghan was elected to the Senate in 2023 to represent Kogi Central.
She was a lawyer, a past candidate for governor, and the district’s first female senator.
It is understood that Bello recently showed interest while visiting the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland’s palace, where he met with religious leaders, traditional leaders, and community leaders.
Last week, a video of the visit was uploaded on his verified Facebook site.
Along with other prominent political figures, Ahmed Usman Ododo, the governor of Kogi State, attended the event.
Bello was reportedly asked to represent the district in the National Assembly in 2027 by party leaders and attendees.
