Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defense, has been the target of a savage media campaign, according to former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode.

Fani-Kayode wrote on Thursday via his verified X handle that the attacks on Matawalle, which were purportedly planned by the opposition, were vile and disgusting.

He claimed that since taking office, the minister has shown extraordinary devotion to President Bola Tinubu and dedication to the battle against terrorism.

He said that Matawalle and Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Advisor, had made great progress in the fight against terrorism.

“More terrorists have been killed in the last two years than in the previous eight put together thanks to him and NSA Nuhu Ribadu,” he claimed.

“My only grouse is that, for some reason, they do not make this public and let the world know about it, which I think they should,” the former minister of aviation said, criticizing what he called government officials’ unwillingness to highlight security achievements.

He advised Matawalle to stay focused and disregard attempts to defame him, claiming that the minister had gained respect for his bravery and tenacity in facing state foes.

He added, “I urge my friend and brother, Matawalle, to stay focused, to continue the good work, and to ignore the ‘bad belle’ distractions despite all efforts to discredit and undermine him.”
