Jane Osuji, the Chief Superintendent of Corrections, has been appointed as the new Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) by Controller General Sylvester Nwakuche.
Her appointment takes immediate effect.
She takes over for Umar Abubakar, the Deputy Controller of Corrections, who officially retired on November 19, 2025.
CSC Osuji, a native of Imo State’s Owerri North Local Government Area, has a master’s degree in public administration from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, and a bachelor’s degree in public relations and advertising from Lagos State University.
As the first woman to hold the role of Service Public Relations Officer, her appointment represents a significant milestone for the Service.
Osuji, who joined the Nigerian Prisons Service in 2009 as an Assistant Superintendent of Prisons II, has finished all of her cadre’s required courses and participated in a number of specialized trainings.
One of them is the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji’s Internal Security and Low-Intensity Conflict Operations Course.
Her career trajectory includes notable jobs such as Assistant Public Relations Officer at the Lagos State Command, Public Relations Officer of the FCT Command, and Assistant National Public Relations Officer at the Service Headquarters, where she served under four Controllers General.
Osuji also distinguished herself as Press Secretary to three Ministers of Interior between 2015 and 2023, contributing considerably to public communication efforts within the ministry.
She worked at the NCoS Headquarters’ Public Relations Unit in Abuja prior to her promotion.
