General Christopher Musa (retd.), the recently appointed Minister of Defense and former Chief of Defense Staff, formally took up his duties at the Ministry of Defense headquarters, Ship House, Abuja, on Friday.

Arriving to the ministry at approximately 11:10 a.m., Musa was greeted with full military honors and, in accordance with custom, inspected the quarter guard. The Senate confirmed Musa’s appointment on Thursday after President Bola Tinubu nominated him.

The appointment was made a few days after former minister Muhammad Badaru resigned.

The former CDS met with the directors of the ministry and the service chiefs behind closed doors as soon as he arrived.

Musa has given Nigerians the assurance that the Federal Government’s updated security plans will produce noticeable outcomes as quickly as feasible.

Shortly after President Tinubu administered the oath of office to Musa at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday, Musa made the promise.

Speaking to reporters following the event, the minister stated that improving cooperation between all security agencies and modernizing the country’s defense system are his top priorities.

“Making sure defense takes its place fully in the country is my immediate priority,” Musa declared.

Noting that “security is everybody’s responsibility,” he emphasized the necessity of cooperation both inside the military and with other security agencies.

General Musa expressed hope that increased cooperation and coordination will expedite the country’s security concerns.

“We need to build on and work on that synergy, and we will do just that. Nigerians will witness results in the shortest amount of time, I promise,” he stated.
