Nigeria and the Republic of China have decided to improve their security, stability, and sovereignty-related bilateral ties.

This was the result of a strategic conference between the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Yu Dunhai, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, to review bilateral relations and enhance strategic collaboration between both nations.

Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the Ministry’s spokesperson, said in a statement on Thursday that the meeting’s main objectives were to advance ongoing collaborations and share perspectives on regional and international trends.

It stated that the Chinese ambassador reaffirmed China’s support for Nigeria’s security, stability, and sovereignty while praising Nigeria’s leadership position in West Africa and expressing agreement with the Minister’s worries regarding the misrepresentation of regional conflicts.

The statement claims that both parties talked about broader areas of collaboration, such as industrialization, technology transfer, migration, capacity-building, and the exploration and processing of important minerals and rare earth elements.

The parties also looked at China’s suggested “process solutions,” potential investments, and prospects in the manufacturing, energy, and economic transformation sectors.

According to the release, Tuggar and Dunhai reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing Nigeria-China relations for mutual gain and agreed that continuous evaluations of bilateral agreements were essential to opening up new areas of cooperation.
