Olusegun Obasanjo, the former president, has officially said that he has forgiven Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, so ending their protracted political rivalry.

According to reports, Obasanjo made the statements on Saturday during Fayose’s 65th birthday celebration in Lagos.

The former president’s remarks, which were caught on camera and went viral, were met with thunderous ovation from the attendees.

After stating that the occasion offered a chance for “celebration, reflection, and correction,” Obasanjo recalled the conditions under which he had consented to go.

“You are not the best of my political children, but you have made achievements that must not be ignored,” stated the former Nigerian president.

The former president disclosed that Fayose ordered former Aviation Minister Osita Chidoka to “sound him out” rather than directly contacting him.

“Well, if he (Fayose) has sent you and you have delivered the message, then tell him that you have delivered the message,” Obasanjo recalled saying when Osita, who is also a political youngster, arrived.

In private, he said, Fayose had asked for forgiveness.

You have requested forgiveness, and in my opinion, you have been granted it. However, the correct lessons need to be learned,” Obasanjo stated.
