On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, Ogun State inhabitants will have a public holiday in honor of the state’s 50th anniversary.

To enable citizens to participate in the Golden Jubilee activities, Governor Dapo Abiodun granted the holiday.

Tokunbo Talabi, the Secretary to the State Government, made the announcement and clarified that the festivities will honor fifty years of the state’s political history, consistent expansion, and contributions to Nigeria’s advancement.

The government invited people to join the festivities peacefully and to reflect on the state’s successes while looking forward to greater progress.

The Golden Jubilee program consists of events intended to pay tribute to the past, commemorate present achievements, and make plans for Ogun State’s affluent future.

Residents of Ogun State have the chance to actively engage in the anniversary celebrations and commemorate the state’s creation on February 3, 1976.

A new attack on its employees by suspected smugglers along a forest route in Alapoti, Ado/Odo-Ota Local Government Area, has reportedly been confirmed by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Ogun State.

The event occurred during a normal anti-smuggling operation on Saturday evening.

Officers spotted a group trafficking foreign parboiled rice on motorcycles and seized 46 bags of 50 kg apiece.

A mob armed with Dane guns, stones, bottles, and other weapons assaulted the patrol squad as they attempted to flee with the seized items.
