Reverend Beziel, a minister of the Global Methodist Church, has reportedly been detained and arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS).
Sahara Reporters reports that on February 22, 2026, at around two in the morning, security personnel arrived at Beziel’s Taraba State home.
According to reports, the cleric’s ongoing imprisonment has sparked increasing indignation.
Ruhania Idris, a churchgoer, expressed concern about the cleric’s ongoing imprisonment, claiming that despite efforts to secure his release, he is still incarcerated.
“DSS agents abducted our pastor, Reverend Beziel, from his house in the middle of the night without warning or justification. Since then, he has been detained for weeks without being charged with anything specific, according to Idris.
He added that ₦15 million was purportedly paid to make the pastor’s release possible, but that no progress has been made.
“We were led to believe that paying ₦15 million would guarantee his release, but he remains in detention despite raising and paying the money.” We’re bewildered, upset, and feel totally powerless because of this,” he continued.
He claims that the clergyman has now been moved to a prison in the state capital of Jalingo, which raises more questions regarding due process and potential abuses of his basic human rights.
“He has been sent to the Jalingo penitentiary facility and is no longer even in DSS care, but no one has informed us of the offense he committed. Idris remarked, “We are in the dark.”
When an official in the Taraba State government allegedly distanced the administration from the issue, the scenario took a more concerning turn, according to the source.
It is purported that the State Government Secretary made it clear to us that he knows of no one who can help free the pastor. Our concerns that justice might not be served have been heightened by that statement,” Idris said.
