Senator Iyiola Omisore, a former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has sued the party before a Federal High Court over how its governorship primaries were conducted in the state, escalating the conflict plaguing the APC’s Osun State chapter.

Shortly before the primary election, Omisore, one of the candidates running for the APC governorship, was reportedly disqualified along with a few other candidates.

According to reports, the disqualification of Omisore and other candidates caused discontent inside the party and prompted concerns about the APC’s internal democratic process in Osun State.

It was acknowledged that the development exacerbated divides inside the state chapter and created tension among party stakeholders.

In the meantime, the party is working to settle the conflict and bring the disgruntled members back together.

According to information obtained by ThisDay, the APC’s elders’ caucus recently visited Omisore in his hometown of Ile-Ife in an effort to ease tensions and convince him to make amends with other party officials.

The action was also intended to reintegrate the former senator into the state’s party leadership, which is headed by Adegboyega Oyetola, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.
