Hon. Wale Oriade, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State’s Ibadan South West Local Government Area, has reportedly been abducted by unidentified gunmen.

Around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oriade was allegedly taken away by unidentified gunmen as he was leaving his workplace in the Akala Expressway neighborhood of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

According to Taoreed Sanusi, an Instagram user who reported the event, three armed guys apprehended the victim and coerced him into a blue Micra car.

It was mentioned that criminal activity in the large city has been connected to Micra, a well-known commercial transportation system in the state capital.

“His phone was snatched, and the attackers left the scene in an unidentified direction. Our top focus is still keeping him safe,” he stated.
Senator Teslim Folarin, a former Senate Leader and 2023 APC contender for Oyo State governor, responded to the incident on Thursday by expressing shock over the kidnapping.

“I am extremely disturbed by Hon. Wale Oriade’s abduction. Folarin stated, “This incident is intolerable and a painful reminder of the growing insecurity facing our dear nation.”

To secure his quick and safe recovery, he urged the security services “to act decisively and deploy every necessary resource.”

As security forces step up their efforts, Senator Folarin urged party members and locals to be calm and sent his thoughts and prayers to the family of the kidnapped lawmaker.

“Criminals must not be given control of Oyo State.” We need to increase intelligence sharing, fortify our security architecture, and safeguard all citizens.

He responded, “May Almighty Allah protect Hon. Oriade and bring him home safely.”
