President Bola Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State cannot be compared, according to former governor of Ekiti State Ayodele Fayose.

Despite being a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Fayose said that supporting President Bola Tinubu does not constitute anti-party activities.

He underlined that national interest should take precedence over party allegiance, pointing out that political differences are a typical aspect of democracy.

During Sunday’s PDP national convention in Abuja, he spoke with Channels Television.

“Nigeria is for everyone; before you become a political party card bearer, you are an Ekiti guy. “Every former governor supports the current governor,” he declared.

Additionally, he used instances from global politics to bolster his claims.

“Obama and the past president are not endorsing the Democrats; have they been expelled? No, there will be disagreements on national issues in a democracy,” he said.

Fayose went on to say that support ought to be determined by skill rather than party allegiance.

“When we know a member of our party is incapable of winning, we cannot claim that they must. He went on, “Would you compare a Makinde with an Asiwaju?”

Makinde and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed led one faction of the PDP, while Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), led the other.

The Appeal Court in Abuja declared the Mohammed and Makinde faction’s national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, to be invalid.
