The two opposing PDP groups have been invited to a troubleshooting meeting at the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Abuja headquarters.

In order to address the ongoing leadership problem in the opposition party, representatives of the factions commanded by Tanimu Turaki and Abdulrahman Mohammed, who is supported by Nyesom Wike, gathered for the current meeting.

Members of Tanimu Turaki’s National Working Committee (NWC), secretariat employees, and former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu were reportedly among those who accompanied him.

However, Mohammed was joined by members of his national caretaker committee, including Senator Sam Anyanwu, who serves as its secretary.

In the meantime, the PDP’s National Caretaker Committee, which is supported by Nyesom Wike, announced intentions to hold new congresses in January 2026 and disbanded the executives of 14 state chapters.

As Acting National Chairman and Acting National Secretary, respectively, Mohammed Abdulrahman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu’s leadership “remains the only legitimate national structure recognized by the party,” according to the committee.

Following the committee’s meeting on Thursday night in Abuja, the Acting Publicity Secretary, Haruna Jungun, read a communiqué that included this stance.

The news coincides with current disputes over the PDP governors’ endorsement of the national convention in Ibadan on November 16.

Tanimu Turaki (SAN) and other National Working Committee members were elected to four-year terms at that convention, a decision that the opposition camp would not acknowledge.
