The recently promoted Deputy Inspectors-General Police have been decorated by Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
According to the IGP, the event signified taking on even more responsibility for the Nigeria Police Force’s strategic administration and leadership.
He said that their promotion was evidence of their leadership abilities, professionalism, and steady service to the country.
“Promotion to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police represents one of the highest levels of professional trust within our institution,” he added, speaking to the officers.
It is both an honor and a call to duty, requiring discernment, honesty, bravery, and a steadfast dedication to the ideals of justice and service.
You are now given duties that extend beyond operational command as members of the Nigeria Police Force’s top strategic leadership.
“You are expected to provide institutional guidance, bolster internal discipline, spearhead reforms, and make sure that our policing tactics continue to adapt to our country’s changing security environment.”
“The complexity of the security environment in which we work is always changing. Expectations for the Nigeria Police Force have never been higher, ranging from violent criminal networks and new security issues to organized crime and cyber-enabled dangers.
Therefore, it is critical that our leadership continue to be strategic, forward-thinking, and steadfastly dedicated to operational excellence and professionalism.
“I ask you to apply your extensive experience in bolstering intelligence-led policing, expanding interagency cooperation, improving operational coordination across commands, and bolstering accountability within the ranks in this regard.
“Your leadership must instill faith in the citizens we are pledged to defend as well as confidence within the Force.
