Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, has been compared as a weak politician by Lere Olayinka, a media assistant to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Nyesom Wike. Olayinka cited the governor’s failure to get the support of at least 12 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly after two years.

On Saturday, Lere wrote on his official Facebook site that the governor ought to return home and live with his wife if he is incapable of playing politics.

Speaking on the confrontation between the governor and the assembly members, Lere described how the former governor of Ekiti State handled the matter as soon as he took office.

He claims that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held just one of the 26 seats in the state House of Assembly when Fayose was elected governor in 2014, but the then-governor quickly changed the narrative.

He said that the PDP had seven members of the House of Assembly by the time Fayose “was being sworn in on October 16, 2014, with another two APC lawmakers working with him underground.” How did Fayose persuade six members of the APC House of Assembly to switch to the PDP?

In Ekiti, a quorum of nine members of the House of Assembly is required to convene, and Fayose obtained the necessary number.

However, a person in Rivers State is unable to win over 12 of the 32 members of the House of Assembly.

Instead of searching for eight more, he chose to designate one of the four as his chief of staff, bringing the total down to three.

“How reasonable? Go home and be with your wife if you can’t play politics. Politics is politics.
