President Bola Tinubu emphasized the importance of unity and inclusive administration while hosting State Governors for a Ramadan Iftar at the State House in Abuja on Monday.
Every year, governors, deputy governors, and other high-ranking government officials gathered to break the fast.
Cabinet members were also there, along with Vice-President Kashim Shettima and President Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff.
In his speech, Tinubu praised God for allowing them to live through another Ramadan.
He remarked, “It is a joy and a great honor to be with you again this year.”
According to the president, Christian fasting coincided with the Ramadan fast.
“You understand what that means—discipline, selflessness, faith, fortitude, and love for one another,” he remarked.
Tinubu exhorted the governors to adopt inclusive leadership, tolerance, and solidarity.
He said that the children should be allowed to breathe during this time of harmony, unity, and sacrifice.
He gave the governors kudos for the advancements their states had made.
“I’ve observed that the United States is making significant progress. “I have nothing but praise for you,” the president declared.
Tinubu reassured them that economic difficulties were being overcome in the nation.
“We have emerged from the uncertain black tunnel. Nigeria’s brightest days are still ahead of it,” he stated.
He reaffirmed his dedication to advancing grassroots development and bolstering security.
Leaders should embrace the oppressed and disseminate opportunity, the president said.
Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo, told reporters that the Iftar was an interfaith event.
Fasting by Muslims and Christians occurs roughly once every 33 years. Unity is taught by it,” he remarked.
The governors were collaborating with the president in good faith for the advancement of the country, according to Uzodinma.
In keeping with his yearly Ramadan custom of entertaining political leaders throughout the holy month, Tinubu hosts the Iftar. Rivers’ LGA congresses were conducted peacefully, according to the APC.
In all 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Rivers State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has praised the effective execution of its Local Government Area (LGA) Delegates Election.
Due to the State House of Assembly bye-elections for Ahoada East Constituency II and Khana Constituency II seats, which were won by APC candidates Hon. Ukalipke Napoleon and Hon. Mrs. Henrietta Loolo on the same day, the Party’s LGA Congress throughout the state was postponed from Saturday to Monday, February 23, 2026.
By strengthening its internal cohesiveness and grassroots mobilization, the APC’s LGA Delegates Election sought to better prepare the party for its national convention and upcoming elections in Rivers State.
Soon after overseeing the poll in Ikwerre LGA, Chief Tony Okocha, the State’s APC Chairman, characterized the process as transparent, orderly, and peaceful.
Okocha commended the large turnout and dedication to internal democracy shown by the party’s members and stakeholders.
Accompanied by members of the LGA Delegates Election Committee, the chairman of the Rivers APC commented on the exercise’s success and praised the Ikwerre leadership and members for their “orderly and peaceful” involvement.
The APC is still “the party to beat in Nigeria,” he assured party supporters, pointing to recent bye-election wins in Rivers State, Kano, and the Federal Capital Territory as proof of the public’s growing trust.
“The calm environment that pervaded the exercise demonstrates the strength and preparedness of our party for upcoming elections.”
According to Okocha, the successful election of delegates is a major step in strengthening the APC’s internal organizational framework in advance of the next election.
The Congress Committee Chairman also commended the peaceful atmosphere, and Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) Chairman Samuel Nwanosike addressed on behalf of the chosen delegates, promising to remain faithful and committed to the party’s mission.
The transparent election process was praised by Hon. Charles Wobodo, the Executive Chairman of Ikwerre LGA, who also reiterated his dedication to the party’s advancement in the region.
Men from the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Department of State Services (DSS), and representatives from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were present to oversee the process, according to our correspondent.
