Philip Agbese, a member of the All Progressives Congress who represents the Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency in Benue State, quit and joined the Labour Party.

Agbese, who is presently the House of Representatives’ Deputy Spokesperson, declared his defection in a message that was shared on his official Facebook page on Tuesday.

The politician gave an explanation for his choice, stating that he was answering what he called a “higher call” to serve his constituents more devotedly.

“I am answering a higher call to serve my people with commitment, humility, and sincerity,” Agbese declared.

He said that members of the Labour Party had already greeted him in the House of Representatives.

“I have been welcomed into the LP, where Papa, Mama, and Pikin dey house, by my esteemed colleagues in the House of Representatives who are party members from across the nation,” he remarked.

Along with praising the party’s leadership, Agbese promised to help it expand.

He continued, “I feel honored to be a member of such a modest assembly of patriots, guided by the exemplary leadership mantra of our distinguished National Chairman, Her Excellency, Senator Nenadi Usman.”

The legislator said that strengthening the party in Benue State is part of his new political role.

Agbese claims that as the state’s top Labour Party official, he is aware of the difficulty of rebuilding and repositioning the party for future electoral success.

“I fully understand the task of building and re-energizing the party for victory across the board,” he continued, “as the highest political office holder of the party from Benue State.”

As a result, the foundation of our membership will be inclusivity, respect for one another, and the understanding that all members, regardless of age, are important.
