Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has received criticism from Arise TV presenter Rufai Oseni for his altercation with teammate Ademola Lookman on the field during Nigeria’s 4-0 victory over Mozambique at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
According to reports, Nigeria won the round-of-16 match on Monday night. Osimhen scored twice, and Lookman and Akor Adams also scored to guarantee a spot in the quarterfinal.
The two players got into a fight after Lookman wasted a chance to score in the second half.
To defuse the tension, other teammates intervened.
Moses Simon took Osimhen’s position when Osimhen motioned to the bench to be changed.
During Tuesday’s Arise News Global Sports Update, Oseni discussed the issue and questioned Osimhen’s attitude.
Lookman, he claimed, had accomplished as much as Osimhen.
“With all due respect, they said Osimhen wants to go to Turkey; he should be going,” he remarked. What a joke. What kind of stupid mindset?
“You’ve accomplished what Ademola Lookman has.” Both of you are the African Footballer of the Year. What are you doing?
Oseni also demanded disciplinary punishment, saying Osimhen should issue an apology before rejoining the squad.
“Set your hands down. The only way we can instill discipline is this. “Only after Osimhen apologizes to his teammate should he be permitted to rejoin the team,” he stated.
Additionally, he disapproved of Osimhen’s alleged response to the altercation.
“He ought to express regret for revoking his accreditation and declaring, ‘I’m done, I want to travel to Turkey.'” Oseni suggested that they rent a private plane so he could travel there.
Osimhen isn’t essential to the team, according to Rufai Oseni.
“Are you God?” He will realize that you are not indispensable if they win the Nations Cup behind him, which is what I want to happen. “People were there before you, and you are there now,” he remarked.
