The kidnapping of a council secretary and another person at a poultry farm in the state’s Akure North Local Government Area has been confirmed by the Ondo State Police Command.
The event happened earlier in the day at a farm along Kajola Road in the Ilu-Abo area, according to a statement released on Monday by the command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh.

According to Jimoh, the victims were Joseph Kayode and Esther Akinlolu, who were allegedly abducted by armed persons.

Kayode is the secretary of the Okeluju Local Council Development Area in Akoko North-West Local Government Area, according to the police.

According to the spokesperson, preliminary investigations showed that three armed men—whose names are still unknown—emerged from a nearby thicket and raided the poultry farm.

According to Jimoh, “the masked attackers reportedly fired shots into the air before kidnapping the victims and fleeing to an unknown destination.”

In order to begin a search and rescue operation and bolster security patrols in the area, he continued, the police quickly dispatched tactical units and detectives to the incident.

Jimoh further revealed that Adebowale Lawal, the state’s commissioner of police, had directed the use of all operational and intelligence resources to guarantee the victims’ safe rescue and the apprehension of those accountable.

He claims that as part of continuous efforts to find the victims and capture the suspects, security personnel are actively searching the nearby neighborhoods and forests in collaboration with non-traditional security groups.

Some local schools were temporarily closed as a result of the event, which the police spokesperson admitted had alarmed locals, especially parents and school administrators.

He did, however, advise the public to maintain composure and abstain from disseminating unreliable information that could incite fear.
