Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi, an Islamic cleric, has accused the US of being involved in the insurgency in Nigeria.

Sheikh Gumi also said that in order to destabilize Nigeria, the United States has been indirectly arming Boko Haram.

In response to inquiries on Tuesday’s Frank Talk, a live current affairs program on Rave 91.7FM in Osogbo, Gumi said that the purported foreign meddling was a part of a larger scheme to coerce Nigeria into housing an American military installation.

According to Gumi, the United States and other Western nations have been secretly contributing to Nigeria’s insecurity.

“The imperialists have been expelled by all of the Sahelian nations. We just need to have the right mindset. If you are unaware, the threat still looms over Nigeria and will have an impact on our economy.

“A significant portion of our issue involves the United States. He accused them of arming Boko Haram.

He also questioned who might have the resources to back such rebel organizations.

“Who has the financial means and authority to arm these rebels? You’re not viewing things from an international perspective, but rather from a local one.

“America is included in it.” You might ask, “Why is this so?” in order to receive a military facility from Nigeria. Even though they were recently expelled from Niger, they still desire an African stronghold. They’re after Nigeria,” he said.

He claims that the purported plan is to use Boko Haram to intimidate Nigerians so that Nigeria will thereafter ask them to provide a solution.

The cleric also condemned foreign military interventions, advocating instead for intelligence-based tactics and internal peacebuilding to address insecurity.

To support his assertion, he quoted General Christopher Musa, a former Chief of Defense Staff.

The herdsmen find it simpler because they are the ones seeking peace. However, Boko Haram has worldwide sponsorship.

“In his most recent interview, even General Christopher Musa, the former Chief of Defense Staff, stated as much,” he claimed.

Gumi urged the federal government to continue fighting banditry, particularly in the North-West, and suggested that it identify foreign actors responsible for Nigeria’s instability.

They profit from poverty, ignorance, and illiteracy in general. The government needs to make sure that young people, especially those in the Northeast, are educated so they won’t be influenced by false religious or moral beliefs.

“No one should come and destroy it when it is gradually decreasing because the banditry in the North-West is coming down,” he declared.

Gumi criticized former US President Donald Trump for being Islamophobic and insisted that there was no innate hostility between Muslims and Christians in Nigeria in response to his recent comments about aiding Christians there.

“How can Nigerian Muslims be at ease with President Trump since he has stated that he is coming to aid Christians?” he asked. He is simply anti-Islamic.

“It is merely a fabrication. People are attempting to split us up in order to pilfer our resources.

Regarding his previous peace initiatives, Gumi stated that he chose to meet armed herdsmen in places like Katsina in order to promote communication.

“Peace is inexpensive. “You can spend anything to bring about peace,” he clarified.

He went on to say that Nigerians made up the majority of Fulani herdsmen and that their violent acts were frequently retaliatory.

Fulani men tend to be silent. They are always attacked by someone. “These are typically retaliatory attacks,” he remarked.
