The All Progressives Congress (APC) 2026 National Convention will take place in Eagle Square in Abuja. On Friday morning, the venue was a hive of activity as last-minute preparations were finished in front of the event, which is set to start on March 27.

The party’s colors—red, green, white, and blue—have been used to decorate the area as organizers finalize the stage and other amenities in advance of the event.

The location is covered in party flags that are fluttering in the bright yet windy morning air.

Additionally, voting areas have been put up, with pavilions set up and properly marked for delegates from each federation state.

More than 8,000 delegates from the Federal Capital Territory and the 36 states are anticipated to attend the conference, according to APC authorities.

President Bola Tinubu will lead the delegates, which will also include 31 state governors and Federal Executive Council members.

To ensure safety, security personnel from various agencies, such as the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, were stationed throughout the venue.

Every road that led to Eagle Square was blocked off and subject to strict security.

Many Federal Capital Territory citizens were forced to walk to their places of employment as a result of the area’s traffic being redirected.

Additionally, members of the Convention Venue Committee, led by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, were observed examining the venue’s preparations.

In order to demonstrate unity and internal cohesiveness, the ruling party has stated that it will choose officials during the convention by consensus.

Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, gave an overview of the two-day event’s objectives and expectations during a news conference on Thursday.

The party was ready for the exercise, according to Idris, who is also the co-chairman of the convention’s Media and Publicity Committee.

In order to guarantee efficient communication throughout the convention, the minister asked the publicity committee members to collaborate.

“In keeping with the party’s vision for a unified and disciplined approach to communicating with Nigerians, a great deal of sacrifice is expected from everyone,” he stated.

Additionally, he emphasized the need of party members upholding internal democratic norms.

“As party members, we have to emulate a key quality of our president,” Idris stated.

He claims that the convention is a significant turning point in the party’s efforts to fortify its democratic procedures and internal structures.
