Adebayo Shittu, a former minister of communications, has cautioned that any move to extend amnesty to bandits is a sign that the nation will produce more criminals.

Shittu disclosed this information on Wednesday during a live broadcast of “Frontline,” a current events program on Eagle 102.5FM in Ilese Ijebu, Ogun State.

According to reports, Shittu, who is from Oyo State, was a minister in the administration of the late President Muhammadu Buhari.

A few days ago, the Katsina State government announced that it had reached a peace agreement and freed at least seventy (70) accused bandits. Why we freed 70 suspected bandits from Katsina Govt.

However, Shittu stated that any attempt to extend amnesty to bandits will encourage more criminals in the nation on Wednesday while speaking on the radio program that DAILY POST was watching.

“You might as well open the prisons if hundreds of criminals are granted amnesty. He remarked, “It conveys the incorrect message.”

Speaking about some opposition political figures’ decision to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Shittu claimed that the politicians’ defection to the APC was caused by instability in the Peoples Democratic Party and other political parties.

“Nobody wants a one-party state, but when parties misbehave, people will relocate to stable areas. He said, “That is basic math.”
