A midnight attack on a health center in the Oke Ijebu neighborhood of Akure, the capital of Ondo State, reportedly resulted in the kidnapping of no fewer than six medical professionals.
Witnesses reported that the attackers entered the building across from Mega School by force after arriving on a bus at around two in the morning.
All employees on duty, including interns, were allegedly picked up by the gunmen and transported to an unidentified place in the waiting vehicle.
Despite being clearly frightened by the experience, patients receiving treatment at the time of the attack were apparently left untouched.
In order to guarantee the safe release of the kidnapped health professionals and stop additional attacks, local residents expressed grave concern over the occurrence, characterizing it as disturbing and calling for security forces to act immediately.
Authorities have not yet released a formal comment about the incident as of the time of reporting.
