AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the governor of Kwara state, visited soldiers hurt in a recent ambush by bandits and announced a contribution of N5 million to each of the three injured soldiers and N20 million to the families of those murdered.
Brigadier General Nicholas Nemetne Rume, the commander of the Nigerian Army’s 22 Armoured Brigade, Sobi, and Professor Abdullah Dasilva Yussuf, the hospital’s chief medical director, welcomed Governor AbdulRazaq to the facility.
The governor expressed sympathy to the soldiers’ families on Wednesday, saying that the tragedy demonstrated the sacrifice made by the troops in military to ensure everyone’s safety in the nation.
The governor asked Nigerians to keep supporting the security agencies in their national mission and praised them for their selfless service.
“The troops who were ambushed by bandits are the reason we are here. Sadly, we lost three of them, and the remaining three are being treated in this hospital. Praying for them and helping the relatives of the deceased are things we can do. “May their spirits rest in peace,” he uttered.
We value their unselfish contribution to the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s citizens, the federation, and the state. We will provide N60 million to the relatives of the deceased as a temporary measure until the Ministry of Defense provides them with the proper treatment as usual.
“We will provide each hospitalized patient N5 million so that their family can care for them.
Once more, this demonstrates the risk that the security personnel face on a daily basis. They are constantly in danger to protect us.
