Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, a previous candidate for governor of Kano State, has quit the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Using his X account on Monday night, former presidential media assistant Bashir Ahmad verified this.

Ahmad lamented Gawuna’s departure and said it wasn’t a positive thing.

“Unfortunately, we have lost Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, the former Kano State gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 general elections, as he has officially resigned his membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC),” he wrote. This is not favorable!

Gawuna’s resignation as Chairman of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria’s (FMBN) Governing Board occurred just hours ago.

He stated in a resignation letter dated March 27, 2026, that his choice is effective immediately and that it complies with the President’s order to adhere to electoral regulations in advance of future political activity.
