Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has received praise from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who said that his accomplishments there have benefited the ruling All Progressives Congress politically.

In addition to by-elections in the Ahoada East II and Khana II state constituencies in Rivers State and the Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano State, the President’s remarks came after the Independent National Electoral Commission held elections in the six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory on Saturday.

The majority of the contested posts were won by the APC.

Tinubu welcomed the election winners and praised the process’s stakeholders in a statement released on Sunday by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

As per the statement, the President expressed gratitude to INEC, security forces, and voters for guaranteeing a credible and peaceful exercise.

Onanuga said, “President Tinubu commends Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, for his outstanding accomplishments in the territory, which have benefited the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) politically.”

“The President congratulates all party members, the Kano and Rivers leaderships, and the APC national leadership on their electoral victories.”

Those elected should approach their mission with a feeling of duty and responsibility, Tinubu said.

He urged the victorious individuals to serve with “a sense of humility, patriotism, and dedication, and to regard the mandate that the people have given them as a sacred trust.”

Additionally, the President praised the candidates’ behavior at the polls.

“He further commends the courage and discipline displayed by all the contestants, stating that the vibrancy of participation and competition enriches democracy,” stated the statement.

While acknowledging that the elections’ effective conduct further reinforced democratic institutions, Tinubu urged INEC to keep refining its procedures.

The electoral board was urged by the president “to keep improving its efforts to deliver even more exemplary electoral processes.”
