Following the nullification of its Ibadan National Convention by an Ibadan Federal High Court ruling, the Tanimu Turaki-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reassured its members that the party is still legally intact.
Comrade Ini Ememobong, National Publicity Secretary, released a statement from the party on Friday.
The court refused to accept the party’s request for a mandamus order, citing the possibility that doing so would constitute to sitting on appeal over decisions made by courts with coordinated authority.
In response, the party stated that it has given its attorneys instructions to submit an appeal right away and take all required legal action to strengthen its case and defend its position.
As it awaits rulings from appeal courts, the Turaki-led PDP leadership, which sprang from the Ibadan National Convention, stressed that it is “legally intact and unshaken.”
Ememobong remarked, “Not withstanding this judgment, our party remains firmly on course. There is no reason for concern, thus we encourage our members to remain steadfast and dedicated.
The Rebirth Movement is still on course, the party reaffirmed.
