The Lagos League of Imams calls for prayers to prevent a potential third World War and cautions against protests in Nigeria.

Due to growing tensions between the US and Iran, the US Embassy in Nigeria has canceled all visa appointments for Wednesday, March 4, 2026, citing a high likelihood of protests in Abuja.

The Embassy advised Americans to stay inside and issued a warning about “Potential Demonstrations” in the Federal Capital Territory in a message that was posted on its website on Wednesday.

Because of the ongoing dispute with Iran, the U.S. Embassy in Abuja warns American citizens that there is a high likelihood of protests in Abuja tomorrow, March 4, 2026.

“Some groups’ previous protests have led to violent altercations between the groups and Nigerian security forces.” All U.S. citizens in Abuja are strongly advised by the Embassy to stay at home on Wednesday, March 4, according to the warning.

The warning coincides with escalating international tensions after Iranian state and local media confirmed the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, following alleged US and Israeli attacks.

Tehran swiftly retaliated after it was reported that several additional senior Iranian officials were killed in the strikes.

Iran has vowed to exact revenge for the deaths of its Supreme Leader and other regime officials by firing several missiles toward U.S. sites in Gulf nations, particularly Saudi Arabia. As it entered its fifth day, the battle, which started over the weekend with coordinated Israeli and American strikes, showed no signs of abating.

The US Department of State had already cautioned American citizens around the world to be more cautious earlier this week.

“Americans worldwide, particularly in the Middle East, should follow the guidance in the latest security alerts issued by the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate following the launch of U.S. combat operations in Iran,” the advisory said.
