Ben Nwoye, the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) Deputy National Chairman (South), has declared that the party is prepared to eliminate the influence of former presidential candidate Peter Obi in the impending general elections of 2027.

Nwoye pledged that the APC would overcome the system while speaking on Channels Television.

He declared that the party would not take Obi for granted and acknowledged the Obidient Movement’s substantial influence in the previous election.

“If you come to the South-East and you see what happened in the last election, it was the grand zero for the Obidient movement; they practically took everywhere, including my state,” the APC chief stated. They gained two of the three Senate seats, seven of the eight House of Representatives seats, and, I believe, fifteen of the twenty-four House of Assembly seats.

“There is a man sitting there who went to Delta State, took some, went to Edo State, won, and then, of course, won in Lagos State.” Therefore, you should be ready when such a figure moves around. Keep in mind that he has two feed-on parties: the ADC and the Obidient movement, both of which are active and have declared their intention to run. Every vote will therefore be taken into account, and we will struggle through the system to secure as many votes as possible in order to win.

The APC leader emphasized the party’s preparedness for the fight ahead by pointing out that the South will present the ruling party with its greatest obstacle in the 2027 election.

“It was down south the last time, and it will be down south this time since different southerners are vying for the presidency. Naturally, you have the Obi himself, as well as (Rotimi) Amaechi and a few others who haven’t made a statement yet, but we know they’re getting warmer,” he continued.

Obi is currently a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and is running to be the party’s flagbearer in 2027. In 2023, he campaigned for president under the Labour Party and won nine of the seventeen South states.
