Sheriff Oborevwori, the governor of Delta State, claims that the state is already benefiting from his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He clarified that his government no longer has trouble funding projects or paying salaries because his state has received more funding.

Following Friday night’s APC convention at Eagle Square, Abuja, the governor made this statement.

He clarified that the necessity to connect Delta State with the federal government, which he claimed has improved access to resources and governance outcomes, was the reason behind his defection to the ruling party.

“I’m glad to be here today,” he said. Today is the result of the audacious choice we made on April 28, 2025. Following the 2023 election, I became the first governor to join the APC. We did that in order to establish a connection with the center, which we have done. In making the same choice, other state governors have also followed my lead.

Since Mr. President’s policies and programs are effective, we are pleased with the choice we made. We are aware of Nigerians’ hardship, and the policies are gradually changing.

As you are aware, there wasn’t much money going into the states earlier, and it was hard to pay salaries. We are now able to pay our contractors and salaries. Many things are going well for us.

“I can assure you that my fellow governors will not attend if Mr. President is not performing well. There are currently 31 governors in the APC. Since 1999, no political party has received 31 governors. For the first time.

“The number of people present today demonstrates that Mr. President is bold, dedicated, and moving us in the right direction. We think Nigerians will return the favor by electing him again in 2027.
